The former head of Asda said supermarkets should stop using plastic packaging because the vast majority of landfill sites are over.
Andy Clarke, who has served as the supermarket\'s six-year chief executive, said billions of pounds in recycling investment failed to address global plastic pollution.
He called on the industry to completely abandon plastics and switch to more sustainable alternatives such as paper, steel, glass and aluminum.
\"Go to any supermarket in the country and you will be greeted by a tech plastic wall.
Whether it\'s fruit and vegetables or meat and dairy products, almost everything we buy is packed in plastic.
