According to our research, pet food in this package usually also has a longer shelf life.
Laminated film has good performance in preventing water vapor.
Refer to the picture below, PET has a high water vapor transmission rate, which means that its water vapor barrier has poor performance and is not suitable for PET food packaging because it will shorten the shelf life of PET food.
Pet food manufacturers can use high barrier materials instead of more preservatives to extend the shelf life of pet food.

Plastic and metal materials are packaged as pet food because all of them have a good barrier to oxygen and water vapor.
In addition to considering the oxygen and water vapor permeability properties of the material, we should also know that the environment has some influence on these properties of the material.
Like EVOH and PA, they are very sensitive to humidity.
At room temperature and relatively low humidity, both have a good blocking effect on water vapor, while their water vapor permeability decreases in high humidity environments.
Therefore, EVOH and PA are not suitable for packaging if there is a high humidity environment during pet food transportation and maintenance.
